2007-01-27 - 9:19 a.m. You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."
but then again, it depends on what day it is, how tired i am, and who i've been listening to all day. i have a tendency to pick up ppl's accents. it's to the point, actually, that when i was visiting in Virginia, after a day and a half, i couldn't even remember HOW to talk Canadian. kinda unnerving actually. While no one has ever asked me if i'm from Wisconsin (or Chigaco, actually), i do actually call a carbonated beverage a "pop" (which they found hilarious in Virginia, for some reason). they really should make up one of those quizzy thingies for us canadians.
